Marc Márquez widened his lead in the MotoGP championship after the Sprint at the Malaysia Grand Prix, the 19th round of the 2026 season, held at the Sepang circuit. The Ducati rider finished in second place in the race on Saturday (the 31st), and with Jorge Martín not taking part in the race—though he had joined practice but did not race—he reached 374 points, 19 points ahead of his rival from Aprilia.
Martín remains on 355 points after this morning’s event, keeping the runner-up position. Marco Bezzecchi, on 322, sits third in the standings, followed by Pedro Acosta, winner of the Malaysian sprint and fourth in the championship with 275. Ai Ogura, on 265, completes the top five.
The only Brazilian on the MotoGP grid for 2026, Diogo Moreira remains 14th in the standings with 78 points. The LCR rider, Honda’s satellite team, delivered a solid performance in the morning’s race and finished eighth, adding two more points to the standings.
The MotoGP will stage the main race of the Malaysia Grand Prix in the early hours of Sunday, starting at 4:00 a.m.
