Theo Pourchaire has been signed as a full-time driver for Peugeot in the Endurance World Championship starting in 2026. However, the Frenchman will make an appearance this year by replacing Stoffel Vandoorne for the 8 Hours of Bahrain.
Last week, the team announced that the competitor will be part of the Hypercar program for the upcoming season. But with Vandoorne’s departure, he will now join the other drivers of the Peugeot 9X8 #94 for the final event of the calendar.
Vandoorne’s contract is set to expire after the 6 Hours of Fuji at the end of this month.
Vandoorne joined Peugeot as a reserve driver in 2023, making his debut in Fuji to replace the injured Nico Müller. In 2024, he then gained a spot as a titled driver, also dividing his attention with Formula E, where he competed for DS and later Maserati.
In the last stage of this year, at the Circuit of The Americas, he stepped onto the podium by finishing in third place.
“I’m super happy; thank you to Peugeot for making my dream of becoming a professional racing driver come true and thank you to everyone who supported me. I’m proud to represent Peugeot, a brand with a rich history in motorsports that has won the 24 Hours of Le Mans”, he said.
“I can barely wait to start this legendary race in the highest category at the wheel of the Peugeot 9X8. I’m very happy to make my debut in Bahrain alongside Loic and Malthe, on a track that I really like and where I’ve already achieved great success in Formula 2 and karting”, he added.
