The rain that fell at the Circuit of the Americas helped Penske secure their first win of the 2025 Endurance World Championship season. This was pointed out by Jonathan Diuguid, the team’s president.
The #6 car driven by Kevin Estre, Laurens Vanthoor, and Matt Campbell took the top step of the podium in the chaotic Lone Star event – in total, there were six safety-car periods, a red flag, and multiple accidents, which ultimately played in the team’s favor.
Estre took the lead after passing the AF Corse #51 of Alessandro Pier Guidi with 1 hour 45 minutes left to the checkered flag. Never losing the lead, he crossed the finish line with an 8.6-second advantage over the rest of the pack.
This marked the team’s second podium finish in the championship after being second in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and their first win of the year.
“It’s been a challenging season so far, but rain can be a great equalizer, and that’s what we saw today. The execution of the drivers and the pit stop team in terms of timing put them in a position to do what they do best,” said the executive.
“As soon as Kevin took the lead, to be honest, I felt quite confident, because when he takes those positions, he delivers every day. Matt and Larry also kept the car at the front all day. The important thing is to seize opportunities when they arise, and that’s what we managed to do today,” he added.
