MotoGP News: Quartararo Makes Pessimistic Comments Following Yamaha V4 Test Session

September 16, 2025

Fabio Quartararo has resigned himself to saying that he does not believe the V4 engine of the Yamaha has made the bike take a step forward so far. The Frenchman set the 16th fastest lap time, 1.224 seconds behind Pedro Acosta – the fastest in the session – after improving his time to 1min31.598s in the afternoon period of the test in Misano.

“There’s work to be done, it’s too early to say if it’s a good base,” Quartararo told Sky Italia.

“At the moment, the new bike is worse than the inline-four. I noticed improvements from the V4 compared to the inline-four in Barcelona that I didn’t feel here. I don’t think the V4 engine will solve our problems; I found them to be identical. So far, I don’t see any progress in the areas we need, although there is room for improvement.”

“This was the first real test with the other riders. So, we see a bit of our real position now. A lot of work to do. We have the same comments. We saw how much Augusto suffered in yesterday’s race, it’s a bit what’s happening to us today. We have to work on everything.”

“The top speed is quite slow. The grip is still not there. And we have a lot of work to do with the electronics. The aerodynamics is more or less a copy of the inline-four. So, it’s clear that we’re not really ready, but it’s the second Shakedown. I repeat, there’s a lot of work to do.”
