In his second full season in motorsport, Tito Giaffone endured a weekend packed with challenges on the oval track at Circuito dos Cristais in Curvelo (MG). Starting from the back of the field, Tito was bumped in the opening race on Sunday and did not finish. In the second race, still needing to climb through the grid, the Full Time Sports driver managed to add another point to the championship with a seventh-place finish in the Challenge class.
“This round here was complicated. We already knew it would be a track where overtaking would be very difficult, and pushing to the limit would be hard, and that’s exactly what we faced here. We didn’t have a very good qualifying, we ended up involved in the crashes that happen back there, where there’s more chance of getting into trouble. For that reason we started from the back in the last race, we managed to move forward a bit by avoiding the problems, but it wasn’t as positive as we would have liked,” explains Tito.
With a victory this season in the Challenge class at Interlagos, Tito believes he can still return to contending at the front, especially in the championship’s final rounds scheduled for Chapecó (SC) and Brasília (DF).
“We still have two rounds with six races in total, a lot to improve, a lot of points to chase, so we’re going all-out in these events where we have a chance to move forward. Chapecó will be a new track for everyone, so we’ll focus on it,” adds Tito.
The round marking the opening of the autodrome in western Santa Catarina is scheduled for October 31.
