Porsche Doesn’t Rule Out Potential Return to World Endurance Championship in the Future

October 11, 2025

Porsche does not rule out a return to the Endurance World Championship in the coming years, according to Thomas Laudenbach, the brand’s head of motorsport, shortly after the announcement of their departure.

This week, the German brand announced that it will be leaving the Hypercar class of the WEC at the end of the 2025 season – a class it had been competing in since the launch of the LMDh in 2023. The reason for this decision is a greater focus on the WeatherTech SportsCar and Formula E programs.

In an interview with several media outlets, the executive made it clear that the team’s departure from the championship at the end of this season is not a definitive goodbye to the endurance category.

“Endurance races, without a doubt, have a special meaning for the Porsche brand and, of course, we do not rule out a return to the WEC at some point in the future,” he said.

“Now, we will continue to do what we have always done, which is to continuously monitor the sport and keep the lines of communication open with the rulemakers,” he added.
