Witold Ramasauskas left Curvelo with reasons to look at the two remaining rounds of NASCAR Brasil with confidence. Besides clinching a playoff berth, the driver extended his lead in the Challenge division to 27 points after two podiums at the oval track in Minas Gerais.
The weekend’s stage, held on September 19 and 20, also marked a solid adaptation by Ramasauskas to the oval layout. In the first race, the driver started from fourth and even appeared in second place after the final yellow flag. Not forcing to defend the position and avoiding unnecessary risks, he crossed the finish line in third in the overall standings and won the Challenge division.
The result repeated itself in terms of podium in the second race. Ramasauskas again finished third and, with the points earned in Curvelo, increased the lead in the Challenge championship to 27 points.
“Very good weekend, a podium in the overall standings with third place in addition to the victory in the first race, and another podium in race two with a third-place finish, which besides securing us a playoff berth also broadens our lead in the championship,” he commented.
The playoff berth now opens a new phase of the season for the driver, who intends to keep contending for the title in the remaining two rounds.
“Now we head to Chapecó at the end of October and the grand final will be in Brasília in November, where we will fight hard to leave with the title,” the driver concluded.
At 38 years old, Ramasauskas is in his fourth season in NASCAR Brasil. He debuted in 2023, where he showed rapid adaptation and captured the runner-up spot in the Special Edition. In 2024, he was elected rookie of the year.
For the second year running with Team RC, led by Marcel Campos, son of the multiple-champion Rosinei Campos, known as Meinha, the São Paulo native competes the season with the Chevrolet Camaro #11 and arrives at the final stages as the leader of the NASCAR Challenge.
