The NASCAR Brasil round in Chapecó on Sunday (the 1st) ended with positive results for Bruna Tomaselli and Tata Calderón in the Challenge category, but also left some frustrations. Bruna secured another podium finish over the weekend, while Tata had good chances to achieve even better results, but was ultimately hindered by on-track contact.
The Colombian’s best result came in race 2. After gaining ten positions, Tata finished second in the category. In the first race, she was also close to a podium, but suffered contact in the final laps and dropped to 16th place.

In the final race, Calderón even took the overall lead and had a chance to challenge for the win. The deployment of the safety car changed the dynamic. On the restart, she was again involved in contact, had a tire puncture, and finished eighth in the Challenge.
“It was very special!!! The first race at home, with many friends and family nearby, will certainly stay in memory. As for the races, it was a rollercoaster of emotions with plenty of contacts, a safety car, and a wild ride. I’m happy with our performance on track and with the work of the whole team that delivered a competitive car,” commented Bruna Tomaselli.
The Brazilian also finished fourth in race 2 and closed the program with a third-place in the final event. With that, she secured another podium in the Challenge. The Chapecó round held special meaning for the driver, who competed at home for the first time in front of friends and family.

For Tata, the balance could have been much better. The incidents in the races wiped out the possibility of collecting three podiums and also compromised her chances of reaching the championship decider.
“What could have been three podiums ended with just a few points, and I believe we deserved more. But I leave pleased with the pace we showed and with the entire SG28 by PoleMotorsport team’s work. I want to thank the whole city and Chapecoense for the wonderful welcome. It was very special to race in this city. Now, we push further at the Brasília round to crown the year,” she said.
In the Challenge standings, Tata Calderón sits fourth with 169 points. Bruna Tomaselli is eighth with 154. The next NASCAR Brasil round will be contested from November 27 to 29 at the Autódromo Nelson Piquet, in Brasília.
