Máximo Quiles won this Sunday (the 13th) the San Marino Grand Prix, the 14th round of the 2026 Moto3 season, held at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Italy. The championship leader fought a fierce duel with David Almansa and managed to make the overtaking only in the final meters, taking the victory by 0.021 seconds aboard an Aspar motorcycle.
Second place went to Almansa, the Intact GP rider who started from pole position and led the race throughout, but could not hold Quiles at the finish. The podium also featured Brian Uriarte, who finished third with Ajo. Matteo Bertelle finished fourth with MTA after an intense battle in the second group. Valentín Perrone, riding for Tech3, completed the top five.
Rico Salmela, Perrone’s teammate, finished sixth, just ahead of Joel Kelso, seventh with GRYD Racing. Adrián Cruces of CIP was eighth, with Marco Morelli from Aspar in ninth. The top ten was completed by Casey O’Gorman, the rider who represents SIC58.
The Misano race was punctuated by crashes. Right at the start of the first lap, Álvaro Carpe fell in turn 4, rejoining the battle shortly after. Also in the opening lap, an incident between Nicolo Carraro and Leo Rammerstorfer at turn 14 took both riders out of the race. On lap 16, Joel Esteban crashed and was yet another retirement from the event.
The Moto3 championship will resume next Sunday, when the Austrian Grand Prix, scheduled for the Red Bull Ring, will take place.
