The Brazilian Pedro Clerot won on Saturday (the 12th) the first main race of the final round of the 2026 Formula 3 season, held at the Madrid street circuit laid out on the streets of Madrid, Spain. The Rodin Motorsport driver lined up from second on the grid and seized the lead in the opening meters, fending off challenges from his rivals to take his first victory in the category.
The runner-up was Taito Kato, a driver for ART Grand Prix who could not keep pace with Clerot. Tuukka Taponen, in a MP Motorsport car, completed the podium in third, followed by Ugo Ugochukwu in fourth with a Campos Racing mount. Jin Nakamura, from Hitech, completed the top five.
Alessandro Giusti, the MP Motorsport driver, finished the race in sixth place, just ahead of Alex Powell, seventh for Prema. Ernesto Rivera, from Campos Racing, ended in eighth, while Theophile Nael, his teammate and Sprint winner this morning, finished ninth. James Wharton, of Prema, completed the top ten.
The race featured a red-flag restart after an early collision closed the track. The incident occurred when Bruno del Pino and Enzo Deligny, Van Amersfoort teammates, collided. A little further back, Maciej Gladysz in an ART Grand Prix car took off into the air. The crash also involved José Garfias, of Prema, Woohyun Shin, of ART Grand Prix, and Fernando Barrichello, of AIX Racing.
Noah Stomsted and Fionn McLaughlin were also involved in the incident that halted the race in the Spanish capital, but both managed to bring their cars to the pits. Later, on lap 9, Freddie Slater, then the championship leader, hit the wall and triggered the Safety Car in the Spanish capital.
The 2026 Formula 3 season will conclude this Sunday, with another long race scheduled to begin from 4:45 PM.
