Thomas Krasonis will be one of NASCAR Brasil’s newcomers at the opening of the 2026 Playoffs. The Greek driver will defend AMattheis Vogel in the Chapecó stage (SC), taking place from October 30 to November 1, and will face a different challenge: racing on an oval, something he did not do during this year’s European season.
At 24 years old, Krasonis arrives in Brazil after a standout season in NASCAR’s premier category in Europe. He will turn 25 on October 29, the eve of the round’s opening, and will have the opportunity to get a close look at the Brazilian championship, which uses Chevrolet Camaro and Ford Mustang models.
Although he did not race on ovals in Europe this season, the Greek has already had contact with this type of track. Earlier this year, he took part in World Series of Asphalt testing at New Smyrna Speedway in the United States, alongside Gabriel Casagrande, his current teammate at AMattheis Vogel.
The experience could help in adapting to Chapecó’s layout, where Krasonis hopes to learn quickly and contribute to the team’s results.
“I’m eager to learn about NASCAR Brasil and achieve good results for the team. Regarding the Chapecó race, I’m very excited about the oval layout, since this year we didn’t have any oval rounds in Europe,” he said.
The driver also thanked Elio Seikel and AMattheis Vogel for the opportunity to debut in the Brazilian series with a competitive car: “After a very strong season in NASCAR’s main category in Europe, I’m ready for the next challenge of the year! I want to thank Elio Seikel and the AMattheis Vogel Racing team for giving me the chance to participate in NASCAR Brasil with a very competitive car, as well as my sponsor Costamare Shipping, for always standing by my side,” he stated.

The Greek’s debut will occur precisely at the start of NASCAR Brasil’s decisive phase. The Chapecó round opens the 2026 Playoffs and marks the beginning of a new experience for Krasonis in Brazilian motorsport.
