The Formula 2 unveiled the starting grid for the Sprint that kicks off the 11th round of the 2026 season, scheduled for Saturday morning (12) at Madring, a circuit located in Madrid, Spain. The race, which takes into account the inversion of the top ten in the standings, will see Emmo Fittipaldi on pole position after the Brazilian from AIX posted the tenth-fastest time.
In addition to Fittipaldi, the front row in the Spanish capital will also feature Ritomo Miyata, a Hitech driver. Noel León, piloting a Campos Racing car, starts third, sharing the second row with Laurens van Hoepen, a Trident driver who begins from fourth. The group of the five best is completed by Roman Bilinski, the Polish driver for DAMS.
Leading the standings, Nikola Tsolov starts from sixth with Campos Racing, while Martinius Stenshorne, in a Rodin, leaves from seventh. The vice-leader of the points table, Rafael Câmara, begins the Sprint from eighth with Invicta Racing, with Alexander Dunne of Rodin Motorsport in ninth. Dino Beganovic, from DAMS, sits tenth.
Some drivers lost their laps or did not complete turns in qualifying and will start from the back. Nico Varrone, of Van Amersfoort, and Kush Maini, of ART Grand Prix, had their best laps erased after triggering red flags due to crashes and will start 19th and 20th, respectively. Sebastian Montoya also crashed but did not complete laps, starting 21st with Prema.
There is also the case of Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak, ART Grand Prix driver. The Thai crashed during the free practice session held on Friday morning and watched his car engulfed in flames for a little over two minutes. The team could not rebuild the car in time for qualifying, and the driver will start 22nd and last in both races.
The Formula 2 Sprint will take place this Saturday, with the lights going out at 9:15 a.m.
