Bulgarian Nikola Tsolov was penalized three grid positions for the second main race of the 12th round of the 2026 Formula 2 season, scheduled for the early hours of Saturday (26) on the street circuit laid out in Baku, Azerbaijan. As a result, the Campos Racing driver will start from 11th on the grid for the race that closes the triple-header.
Tsolov was penalized in the first main race of the weekend for crossing the pit exit line as he was returning to the track. Initially, the stewards penalized the Bulgarian with a five-second addition to his final race time. However, the driver of car number 6 was involved in an accident and withdrew from the race, and the penalty was carried over to this Saturday’s event.
With the penalty against Tsolov, three drivers move up one position on the grid for the race that closes Formula 2’s visit to the Azerbaijani capital. Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak will start eighth, followed by Sebastian Montoya, now ninth on the grid. Ritomo Miyata will begin the contest from tenth place.
In front, everything remains as established in the classification, with Martinius Stenshorne lining up on pole, beside him on the front row Alexander Dunne, Rodin Motorsport teammate and winner of the first main race. Championship leader Rafael Câmara will start third. Another Brazilian on the grid, Emmo Fittipaldi, starts 20th.
The Saturday Formula 2 race is scheduled to start at 4:00 a.m. local time.
