With ten national titles in motorsport, Cacá Bueno remains among the contenders for the NASCAR Brasil championship after securing sixth place in the regular standings, with two final rounds remaining. The Team RC driver started 12th in the first race of the day at Circuito dos Cristais in Curvelo (MG) and advanced six positions in Race 1. After being one of the day’s standout performers in the opening race, Cacá finished Race 2 in the overall top 10.
“We started 12th in a very difficult, quite crash-prone race, with three restarts, and we ended up sixth, pulling off some good overtakes, and it was very important because with that we moved into the inversion to start on pole position for Race 2,” explains Cacá, who is sponsored by Betnacional, Capital Concreto, PicPay, ACDelco, SpeedMax Pneus, Pneu Store, Milwaukee, Turbi and Chevrolet.

A problem with the car early in the second race prevented Cacá from challenging for the victory on Curvelo’s oval track.
“I had an accident while I was leading and it was my fault. At the restart the gearbox locked. We have the main switch and a gearbox compressor. The gearbox locked and I ended up stuck in second gear. I tried to shift up several times and it wouldn’t engage. The field all passed me by on the right, and when I eased off the throttle and braked in the correct spot, the gears jumped up and I basically coasted downhill in neutral. I stayed in neutral and lost the rear of the car. It seems that I dive into the braking because I have no engine braking, and to avoid hitting Alfredinho (Ibiapina), I steer the wheel to the left so much that I end up spinning. I apologize to him and to everyone in the peloton,” explains Cacá.
The next NASCAR Brasil round will take place on October 31 in Chapecó (SC). Cacá returns to the track this coming weekend in the Stock Car Endurance race, in Brasília (DF).
