Manuel González claimed victory in the San Marino Grand Prix this Sunday, the 14th round of the 2026 Moto2 season. The Intact GP rider grabbed the lead in the early part of the race at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Italy, withstood the challengers’ attacks to open a gap in the final laps, and secured his fifth win of the year.
Collin Veijer, riding for Ajo, took second place after briefly leading the race early on, finishing a little over two seconds behind González. The podium also featured Barry Baltus of Fantic Racing, who disputed the lead until being penalized with a long lap for track limits. Iván Ortolá of MSI and Tony Arbolino of Fantic Racing completed the top five.
Izán Guevara, aboard a Pramac motorcycle, crossed the finish line in sixth place, followed by Celestino Vietti in seventh on a SpeedRS. Alonso López, who almost crashed on several occasions, finished eighth for Gresini, while David Alonso of Aspar came home ninth. The group completing the top ten was rounded out by Álex Escrig, rider for KLINT Racing.
The Misano race featured a multi-bike crash at the start, after Senna Agius, Daniel Holgado and Ángel Piqueras fell at the first corner. On the second lap, Luca Lunetta also crashed out, taking him out of contention. On the seventh lap, another fall occurred, that of Xabi Zurutuza at turn 14. Filip Salac was another rider who did not finish.
Moto2 continues the 2026 season next Sunday with the Austrian Grand Prix, scheduled for the Red Bull Ring.
