The Brazilian driver who defends Invicta Racing in Formula 2, Rafael Câmara will start from third place on the main race grid of the 11th round of the 2026 season, scheduled at Madring, the circuit located in Madrid, Spain. In the qualifying session held on Friday morning (11), the championship’s vice-leader took advantage of the closing moments to clock a 1:44.853 lap, securing a spot on the second row of the grid.
At a moment of growth in the championship, where he closed the gap to the leader to just 11 points in the latest rounds, Câmara faced a session that featured three red flags and left little time to secure third place. More than that, the Brazilian will start ahead of the championship leader, who begins from fifth.
“Generally, I’m happy with what we did today. I think, in the end, the lap ended up being a good one that put us in third. From there, we’ll focus on the races. It wasn’t an easy qualifying. It was tough to complete laps and there were many red flags and accidents,” Rafael Câmara said, shortly after the classification.
“We didn’t manage to run many laps in the free practice, so it was difficult to gauge what we needed to do in qualifying. And, of course, you have to trust your engineer and the team to know that you’re on the right track in qualifying. But it was a good session, even without data from the free practice. That was the same for everyone, but on a new track, it isn’t what we want,” Câmara added.
After qualifying, Formula 2 will run its two races in the rest of the schedule. The Sprint is set for 9:15 a.m. this Saturday (12), while the main race starts at 6:25 a.m. on Sunday. Sportv, Globoplay and F1TV will broadcast both races live.
