Nicola Lacorte won in the early hours of this Sunday (the 6th) the main race of the penultimate round of the 2026 Formula 3 season, held at the Monza National Autodrome in Italy. The DAMS driver stayed in the leading group throughout the race and took the lead on lap 17 of 22, going on to secure his first victory in the category.
Second place went to Tuukka Taponen, MP Motorsport driver who finished just seven-tenths of a second behind Lacorte. Taito Kato, who had won Saturday’s Sprint, completed the podium in an ART Grand Prix car. Yevan David finished fourth for AIX Racing after overtaking Kanato Le on the final lap, leaving the Japanese driver from ART Grand Prix in fifth.
Hiyu Yamakoshi, driving a car prepared by Van Amersfoort, finished sixth, followed by Noah Stromsted in seventh with Trident. Ugo Ugochukwu recovered from an early incident that sent him to the back of the grid and ended eighth with Campos Racing, just ahead of Enzo Deligny in ninth with Van Amersfoort. James Wharton of Prema completed the top ten.
The race was disastrous for the championship leader, Freddie Slater. Struggling throughout the event, the Trident driver encountered issues and, later, lost one of his wheels, retiring from the race and triggering a Safety Car. In fact, the race was neutralized again on the third lap after an incident between Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi and Fionn McLaughlin, with the Irishman retiring.
The event was also difficult for the two Brazilian drivers on the grid. Pedro Clerot finished only 22nd after contact sent him spinning in the Rodin Motorsports car when he was in the points zone. Fernando Barrichello, of AIX Racing, retired in the closing laps while attempting to recover from a spin while he was in the points on the fifth lap.
The 2026 F3 season will conclude next weekend with the Madrid round in Spain.
