Freddie Slater extended his lead in the Formula 3 championship after the completion of the season’s penultimate round at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza in Italy. Even though he retired from Sunday’s race (the 6th), the Trident driver remains at the top of the standings, with 141 points after eight rounds.
The runner-up position belongs to Ugochukwu Ugochukwu, who staged a recovery race this Sunday to finish eighth, bringing his championship total to 126 points. The Campos Racing American is the only one who can still wrest the title from Slater. Ernesto Rivera, on 76 points, sits third, followed by Theophile Nael in fourth with 75. Brando Badoer, Taito Kato, and Hiyu Yamakoshi round out the top five, each on 71 points.
The Brazilians had a tough weekend and failed to score in both races in Italy after being involved in incidents. Consequently, Pedro Clerot is now 12th with 48 points, while Fernando Barrichello sits 27th, with two points.
The final round of the season is already scheduled for next weekend in Madrid. Check the F3 standings after the Italian round:
