The Brazilian Rafael Câmara clinched on Friday morning the pole position for the seventh round of Formula 2. In the qualifying held at the Silverstone circuit in England, the Invicta Racing driver posted his best lap time of 1min39s690, edging out his rivals to secure the top spot for the third time this year and add two more points to the standings.

“I felt the lap was solid. We were already leading in the free practice, I was feeling confident with the car even as I completed the second lap on my first run to the track. I knew we had a chance to fight. So I’m quite happy, it was a good lap. I believe everything was in place and, for sure, it’s a good position to start on Sunday. Tomorrow should be interesting and we’ll give our best,” Rafael Câmara said shortly after qualifying.
As the current Formula 3 champion, Câmara sits in third place in the championship standings after six rounds. The Brazilian now has 84 points and adds, besides three pole positions, a win and three podiums in his debut year in the main ladder to Formula 1.
The Formula 2 schedule will resume this Saturday with the Sprint, scheduled for 9:45. Sunday will feature the main race, with a start at 7:15. Sportv, Globoplay and F1TV will broadcast the races live.
