F3: Slater Secures Pole Position for the Silverstone Round

Freddie Slater clinched pole position on Friday (the 3rd) for the fifth round of the 2026 Formula 3 season. In the qualifying held this morning at the Silverstone circuit in England, the Trident driver posted a 1m45.620 lap in the closing moments, earning the top spot for Sunday’s race.

The runner-up spot went to Theóphile Nael, Campos Racing’s driver who was 0.260 seconds behind Slater. Louis Sharp, aboard a Prema, ended third on the classification list, and will line up on the second row on Sunday alongside Ernesto Rivera, Campos Racing’s fourth. Matteo de Palo, for Trident, was the fifth fastest, followed by Fionn McLaghlin, sixth with Hitech.

Noah Stromsted, driving for Trident, will start seventh in the main race, with Maciej Gladysz, from ART Grand Prix, alongside him on the eighth row. James Wharton, from Prema, finished ninth, while Alessandro Giusti, from MP Motorsport, was tenth. Yevan David, from AIX Racing, was 11th, while Ugo Ugochukwu, from Campos Racing, completes the top 12 and will lead the Sprint.

The two Brazilian drivers on the Formula 3 grid will need to bounce back in the weekend’s races. Pedro Clerot placed 21st on the grid with a Rodin Motorsport machine. Fernando Barrichello, in an AIX Racing car, starts from 29th.

Following the classification, Formula 3 continues its Silverstone schedule with the races. The Sprint is slated for 5:35 a.m. on Saturday (the 4th), while the main event takes place on Sunday at 4:25 a.m.
