Logan Sargeant has insisted that he has nothing to prove to anyone. Now racing in Endurance and already tied to Ford, the driver emphasized that he “couldn’t care less about what the world thinks.”
The American had a rocky stint in Formula 1 and left the grid on a sour note, unable to complete the season with Williams. After a period away, he is returning to the track.
This weekend he takes part in the opening round of the World Endurance Championship in Imola, Italy. And in 2027, he will join the manufacturer’s factory squad for the WEC’s hypercar project.
“Tests will begin, obviously, at some point this year. This season is about understanding the WEC, the championship, getting everything on track and being as prepared as possible for next year,” he said.
“I have no interest in doing 24 races a year, for sure. When asked whether he believes he needs to prove himself to those who were critical of his F1 stint, he replied, ‘Not at all. What is there to prove?’”
“You see, you can look at the three races I did in the IMSA with the LMP2. They were very good, and I hadn’t raced in a year. So I think that speaks for itself. I race for myself, especially now. I don’t care at all about what the outside world thinks,” he continued.
“I’ve gone through this before and it simply doesn’t interest me. I race to represent Ford, I race to represent myself, but at the same time I’m here because I want to be here, not necessarily because I need to be here,” he concluded.
