The Brazilian Rafael Câmara won this Saturday (26) the race that closed the 12th round of the 2026 Formula 2 season, held on the street circuit set up in Baku, Azerbaijan. The Invicta Racing driver claimed his third victory of the year by overtaking his two main rivals in the battle for the feeder category to Formula 1, and leaves the Azeri capital with a seven-point lead over his rivals.
Starting from third on the grid, Câmara moved ahead after the mandatory pit-stop cycle. The Brazilian was briefly overtaken by one of his rivals, who was soon handed a five-second penalty for crossing the pit entry line. From then on, the driver behind car number 1 stayed close to his rival and secured the victory in the closing stages of the 29-lap race.
“It was a good race. I was having a bit of trouble with the balance, but we knew Alex (Dunne) had a five-second penalty. Overall, the two main races went very well, and since free practice we looked very strong, and I think we managed the weekend well,” Rafael Câmara said just after the race.
After this Saturday’s victory, Câmara moved up to 207 points and leads the standings by seven points over the second-placed driver. The Brazilian’s campaign now includes three victories, all in the feature races, in addition to seven podiums and 11 top-5 finishes, and five pole positions.
The F2 season will continue on November 27, 28 and 29 in Qatar.
