Galid Osman won NASCAR Brasil Race 2 this Sunday (the 28th), at Velocitta, after Nicolas Costa received a five-second penalty for contact during the race. Costa had crossed the finish line in first place, but dropped in the standings due to the penalty. Arthur Gama and Alfredinho Ibiapina completed the podium.
Nicolas Costa started from pole position, but was overtaken by Thiago Camilo already at the first corner. Ricardo Zonta ended up leaving the track, triggering the Safety Car.
At the moment of the yellow flag, Costa had regained the lead from Camilo. Arthur Gama and Gabriel Casagrande were right behind, while Galid Osman was in fifth place.
On the restart, Costa reacted better and managed to maintain the lead. The opening green-flag lap was calm, with few moves. And soon the Safety Car was deployed again to recover Denis Navarro’s car.
As soon as the green flag was waved, Costa accelerated and began to extend his advantage at the front. The battle in the middle of the pack intensified, with Alfredinho Ibiapina and Juninho Berlanda fighting for eighth place. Ibiapina prevailed.
Faltando dez minutos para o final, Camilo voltou a se aproximar de Costa e levou Gama junto. Eles passaram a pressionar o líder da prova pelas voltas seguintes. Com isso, o pelotão do top-10 voltou a ficar muito próximo.
With ten minutes remaining, Camilo closed in on Costa again and brought Gama with him. They began pressuring the leader in the following laps. As a result, the top-10 pack started to bunch up again.
Com sete minutos para o fim, Camilo finalmente tentou o ataque, mas não conseguiu. Ele acabou abrindo espaço para Gama, que assumiu a segunda colocação. Algumas curvas depois, eles ficaram lado a lado e Gama chegou a sair da pista, mas evitou o toque com Costa. Enquanto isso Ibiapina subiu para a quinta colocação.
With seven minutes to go, Camilo finally tried to attack but could not. He ended up giving Gama the opportunity, who took second place. A few corners later, they were side by side and Gama even left the track, but avoided contact with Costa. Meanwhile, Ibiapina moved up to fifth place.
Na volta seguinte, Ibiapina tomou a quarta colocação de Casagrande e já partiu para atacar Camilo. Já Gama voltou a encostar no carro de Costa, mas sem conseguir a ultrapassagem.
On the following lap, Ibiapina took fourth from Casagrande and set off to attack Camilo. Gama again closed in on Costa’s car but could not complete the pass.
Faltando três minutos para o fim, o safety car entrou novamente para o resgate do carro de Gustavo Bandeira.

A relargada foi autorizada para as duas últimas voltas. Costa saiu bem, mas com Gama e Ibiapina em sua cola. Camilo, em quarto, perdeu a posição para Galid Osman e Casagrande. Em seguida, Casagrande subiu para quarto colocado.

Cacá Bueno e Thiago Camilo acabaram se envolvendo em um toque e saíram de pista. Logo depois, Costa teve que “fritar” pneus para se defender de Gama.

Eles entraram na última volta colados, mas Gama escapou rapidamente da pista e foi ultrapassado por Ibiapina. Mas logo retomou a posição. Porém, Casagrande encontrou um espaço e pulou para a segunda posição. Uma pequena confusão aconteceu e Casagrande sofreu um toque, batendo em Camilo.
They entered the final lap glued together, but Gama quickly left the track and was overtaken by Ibiapina. He soon regained the position. However, Casagrande found a gap and jumped to second. A small scramble occurred and Casagrande was bumped, hitting Camilo.
Com isso, Costa acabou sendo punido e Galid Osman foi o vencedor da Corrida 2.
As a result, Costa was penalized and Galid Osman took the win in Race 2.
