Bruna Tomaselli and Tata Calderón arrive in Curvelo, Minas Gerais (MG), for a different challenge in the NASCAR Brasil season. Between September 18 and 20, the two SG28 Nascar Team drivers will race for the first time at the Mineiro circuit, which features an oval layout of about 1,250 meters and corners with varying angles.
The round will also carry significant weight in the season. There will be 75 points at stake in the final round of the regular season, and Bruna is still in contention for the Challenge category title. Depending on the combination of results, the Santa Catarina driver could also secure a spot in the overall playoff.
“The expectation is very high due to the results we had on the oval in Cuiabá, even though it is a different kind of track. We will seek to repeat that performance in Curvelo and accumulate as many points as possible to try to reach the Playoffs,” says Bruna Tomaselli, who carries in her car the brands SG Alumínios, Arbaza Alimentos, Kicaldo, VOGAR Empreendimentos and Quality Esquadrias de Alumínios.
Tata Calderón also arrives at the round aiming for a solid points haul. With experience on ovals, the Colombian hopes to repeat the pace shown in Londrina and to celebrate another podium this season.
“I had a weekend of strong performance in Londrina and I hope to repeat that pace in Curvelo. An oval with angular turns that resemble more of those on North American circuits. It will be a race of a lot of strategy, of making good decisions at the start and of adapting quickly. It’s another new circuit for me, but I’m very confident,” the driver, who is supported by VOGAR Empreendimentos, SG Alumínios, AVL Racetech and the Fundación ConCora of Karol G, assesses.
The result in Curvelo will be decisive in defining the 12 drivers who will receive additional points and advance to the championship’s final phase. The qualified drivers will contest the title in the last two rounds of the year, in the so-called playoffs.
The schedule begins on Friday (18th), with Shakedown at 10:40, followed by the Challenge category’s extra practice at 12:30, and the first free practice at 16:30. On Saturday (19th), there will be another free practice at 10:55, before the Qualifying, scheduled for 15:15.
Both races will be held on Sunday (20th), at 9:00 and 14:10. Race 1 will be broadcast by SBT and NSports, while Race 2 will be shown by Disney+. The qualifying and the two races will also be available live on NASCAR Brasil’s official YouTube channel (@NASCARBrasil). ESPN broadcasts the event at 20:30.
