Marc Márquez was the fastest rider in the opening free practice for the San Marino Grand Prix, the 14th round of the 2026 MotoGP season. In the session held on Friday morning (11) at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Italy, the Ducati rider posted his best lap time at 1 minute 31.468 seconds, a time set in the closing moments of the session.
The second position went to Marco Bezzecchi, who on an Aprilia finished 0.060 seconds behind Márquez’s time. Raúl Fernández, aboard a Trackhouse Aprilia, was the third fastest, finishing ahead of Álex Márquez, fourth with a Gresini Ducati. Johann Zarco, on a LCR Honda, completed the list of the top five.
Pedro Acosta, from KTM, finished the session with the sixth best time, ahead of Luca Marini, seventh on a Honda. The championship leader, Jorge Martín, was eighth on an Aprilia, followed by Fabio Quartararo, ninth on a Yamaha. Fabio Di Giannantonio, aboard a VR46 Ducati, was tenth. Diogo Moreira ended 20th with the LCR Honda.
The session featured crashes. Right at the opening seconds, Jack Miller toppled with the Pramac Yamaha, while Acosta fell at the first corner of the Italian circuit with the KTM.
From 10:00, the session that will determine the ten riders who advance directly to Q2 will take place. Saturday will feature a free practice at 5:10, qualifying from 5:50, and the Sprint at 10:00. The San Marino Grand Prix will be contested this Sunday at 9:00.
