Marc Márquez will not be participating in the upcoming Australian GP and Malaysian GP, the next two stages of the MotoGP in 2025. The 32-year-old rider was involved in an accident on the first lap of the Indonesian GP last Sunday with Marco Bezzecchi of Aprilia, resulting in a fracture to his right collarbone.
Márquez returned to Spain on Sunday night to assess his recovery options with the medical team at Hospital Ruber Internacional in Madrid. The medical team diagnosed him with a “fracture at the base of the coracoid process and a ligament injury in the right shoulder”. Further examinations revealed that he did not aggravate any previous injuries to his right arm and no significant bone displacement was found.
Therefore, Dr. Samuel Antuna and Dr. Ignacio Roger de Ona advised against surgery. Instead, he will undergo a rehabilitation process with rest and immobilization of the injured area. As a result, he will miss the next two stages and is expected to return at the Portuguese GP.
“Fortunately, the injury is not serious, but it’s essential to respect the recovery schedule”, he said.
“My goal is to return before the end of the season, but without rushing things beyond medical recommendations.”
“Both my personal objectives and those of the team have been achieved, so now the priority is to recover properly and return 100%.”
