MotoGP: Bezzecchi Takes Pole for Italian Grand Prix at Mugello

June 3, 2026

Marco Bezzecchi clinched pole position for the Italian Grand Prix, the seventh round of the 2026 MotoGP season. In the final phase of the qualifying held on Saturday morning at the Mugello circuit, the Aprilia rider and championship leader posted his best lap at 1m43.921s, securing the top honor.

The second position went to Raúl Fernández, a Trackhouse Aprilia rider who finished 0.224 seconds behind Bezzecchi. The front row is completed by Jorge Martin, on the other factory Aprilia, who will start third. It will be the first time the Italian manufacturer has locked out the front row of a MotoGP grid.

Marc Márquez, back on the grid with Ducati, will start fourth, opening the second row of the Mugello lineup. Fermín Aldeguer begins fifth with a Gresini Ducati, while Francesco Bagnaia, also from the official Ducati team, starts sixth in both the Saturday Sprint and Sunday’s main race.

Winner of the Catalonia GP, Fabio Di Giannantonio starts seventh aboard a VR46 Ducati, while Diogo Moreira, the LCR Honda rider, qualified directly for Q2 and lines up eighth. Franco Morbidelli, from VR46, was ninth. Pedro Acosta, on a KTM, begins tenth, while Enea Bastianini, with a Tech3 KTM, is 11th. Álex Rins, on a Yamaha, closes the top 12 on the grid.

Currently among the five best in the championship standings, Ai Ogura crashed in the first round of this morning’s qualifying. The Trackhouse rider, the satellite outfit for Aprilia, was third-best in Q1, behind Fernández and Acosta, and will start 13th. Another early exit in the opening round was Fabio Quartararo, who will line up only 18th on Yamaha.

Shortly after, at 10:00, the Mugello Sprint will be contested. The Italian MotoGP Grand Prix will take place this Sunday (31), starting at 9:00.
