F3: Yamakoshi Disqualified from Monaco Sprint; Xie Wins, Clerot Takes the Podium

June 8, 2026

The Japanese driver Hiyu Yamakoshi was disqualified from the Sprint race of the second round of the 2026 Formula 3 season, held in the early hours of this Saturday (6). The Van Amersfoort driver had won the race run on the street circuit set up in Monte Carlo, in Monaco, but the car failed the post-race technical inspection, with the punishment announced hours later.

According to the stewards, Yamakoshi’s car had the front suspension bars swapped, with the right-hand one mounted on the left and vice versa. This violated articles 1.5.3. and 17.1 of Formula 3’s technical regulations for the 2026 season. Consequently, the Japanese driver was disqualified from Saturday’s race.

Gerrard Xie, the DAMS driver, was elevated to first place and inherits the Monaco victory, with Bruno Del Pino, Yamakoshi’s teammate, advancing to second. Brazilian Pedro Clerot, of Rodin Motorsport, moves up to third place and, thus, secures his first podium of the debut season in Formula 3.

The Monaco stage will be concluded on Sunday (7) with the main race, scheduled for 2:55.
