Rafael Câmara, a driver in the Ferrari Driver Academy, clinched pole position on Friday the 12th for the main race of the fifth round of Formula 2. In the qualifying session held this morning at the Circuit de Barcelona, the Brazilian from Invicta Racing dominated, posting a best lap of 1:24.810 and securing the top spot for the second time this year.
The Brazilian took command of the session that defined the starting grid from early on. After that, no other driver improved his lap time, which secured Câmara the pole for the main race for the second consecutive round, mirroring Monaco. More than that, the current Formula 3 champion earned two additional points in the standings.
“It was a great qualifying, two poles in a row. It behaved really well from the free practice. I felt like everything was under control. I’m grateful to the team, because the car was incredible. Also, Josh (Durksen) was with me, so we formed a very strong team. Now we’ll focus on the races,” Rafael Câmara said.
The fifth round’s Sprint is scheduled for this Saturday, with a start at 9:15 a.m. The main race in Barcelona will begin at 6:25 a.m. on Sunday. Sportv, Globoplay, and F1TV will broadcast both events live.
