AMattheis Vogel NASCAR Brasil driver Gabriel Casagrande became on Sunday morning (1) the first winner in the history of the category on the oval circuit of the Autódromo Internacional de Chapecó (SC). After clinching pole position the day before, the owner of car number 83 led all 28 laps of the race on the 1,452-meter circuit, securing the victory in the first of three daily races in western Santa Catarina.
Casagrande comes into a dominant weekend, being the fastest in Friday’s practice and securing the pole position on Saturday. In this morning’s contest, the Paraná native faced constant pressure from his rivals, even while leading every lap in a race marked by four Safety Car deployments. The result marks his fifth victory of NASCAR Brasil’s current season.

“It was another very tight race, as is always the case in NASCAR Brasil, even more so on an oval circuit. I can only thank AMattheis Vogel for the excellent work, the sponsors who make this possible, and the support from everyone. We’re going to aim to score a lot of points today,” Casagrande said shortly after the morning race ended.
“It’s a wonderful day and we must congratulate this dream of having a racing circuit in Chapecó made possible. I’m happy to have my family here and to win the first Chapecó oval race. I hope there will be more victories,” added Gabriel Casagrande, who is sponsored by Jupiter Batteries, Axalta, Cresol, OnPetro, STP, RP Info, UFI Filters and Aeropark Camboriú.
NASCAR Brasil will still stage two more races this Sunday in Chapecó, back-to-back, with start times at 14:05 and coverage on ESPN, Disney+ and YouTube.
