Leading the Formula 2 championship, Leonardo Fornaroli was the fastest driver in the only free practice session for the penultimate round of the 2025 season, held on Friday morning (28) at the Lusail circuit in Qatar. The Invicta driver recorded a time of 1min38s656 in his best of 20 laps, which was not surpassed by his opponents.
The second position went to Dino Beganovic, a Hitech driver who finished 0s104 behind Fornaroli’s time. Alexander Dunne, with a Rodin car, was the third fastest, followed by Luke Browning, fourth with Hitech. The group of the top five on the circuit located near Doha also included Roman Stanek, from Invicta.
Richard Verschoor, a driver for MP Motorsport, scored the sixth best time of the session, followed by Oliver Goethe, seventh with the other car of the Dutch team. Martinius Stenshorne, from Rodin, was the eighth fastest, with Rafael Villagómez, a driver for Van Amersfoort, finishing ninth. The list of the top ten fastest drivers also included Jak Crawford, from DAMS.
Starting at 13:10, the qualifying session will determine the starting positions for the penultimate round of the 2025 season. The Sprint is scheduled for 13:20 on Saturday (29), while the main race starts at 9:00 on Sunday.
