Joshua Durksen won this Saturday (the 5th) the Sprint that opened the tenth round of the 2026 Formula 2 season. The Invicta Racing driver started from ninth on the grid and grabbed the lead of the race at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza in Italy on lap nine, after overtaking John Bennett. From there, the Paraguayan held off his rival to secure the victory.
The runner-up was Bennett, the Trident driver who crossed the line a little over one second behind Durksen. The podium was completed by Oliver Goethe, in third for MP Motorsport. Noel León finished the race in fourth, ahead of his team-mate and championship leader Nikola Tsolov, who ended fifth.
Martinius Stenshorne, driving for Rodin, finished sixth, followed by his teammate Alexander Dunne in seventh. The points-scoring zone was completed by Laurens van Hoepen, a Trident driver. Ritomo Miyata of Hitech and Gabriele Mini of MP Motorsport closed out the top 10. Emmo Fittipaldi ended 16th with an AIX Racing car.
The race featured a Safety Car intervention. Rafael Câmara spun on lap four after a contact with Nico Varrone of Van Amersfoort and had to retire the car on track. Race direction was forced to deploy the Safety Car to remove the Brazilian from Invicta Racing. On lap 17, Roman Bilinski spun the DAMS car, triggering another neutralisation.
Formula 2 wraps up its Monza weekend this Sunday (the 6th) with the main race scheduled for 4:30.
