Jak Crawford emerged victorious in the main race of the 12th round of the 2025 Formula 2 season, held on the street circuit in Baku, Azerbaijan, on Sunday (21st). The DAMS driver started from pole position, lost the lead in the initial meters to Leonardo Fornaroli, but after a pit stop, he overtook Gabriele Mini on the eighth of 29 laps to secure the win.
The second place went to Joshua Durksen, a driver for AIX Racing, who pushed for an attack on Crawford until the final lap, finishing just two-tenths behind the winner. Dino Beganovic of Hitech completed the podium with a third-place finish, benefiting from a ten-second penalty against Fornaroli, who collided with Alexander Dunne.
Gabriele Mini, with a Prema car, finished the race in fourth place after leading for a few moments. Fornaroli, who led the initial part of the race, was fifth with Invicta after the penalty. Josep María Martí of Campos Racing was sixth, followed by his teammate Arvid Lindblad, who finished seventh.
Rafael Villagómez returned to scoring points in Formula 2 after finishing the race in eighth place with a Van Amersfoort car, while Richard Verschoor, with an MP Motorsport car, finished ninth. The points zone on the circuit in the Azerbaijani capital was completed by Sebastian Montoya, a driver for the Prema team.
The race featured a Safety Car intervention. Still, on the fifth lap, Martinius Stenshorne, who was in fifth place, stopped at the protection barrier with the Trident car, prompting the neutralization of the race in Azerbaijan.
Formula 2 continues its 2025 season on November 28, 29, and 30, when the penultimate round of the championship will be held at the Lusail circuit in Qatar.
