F1 Singapore GP: Ralf Schumacher Slams Leclerc’s Pit Lane Crash as “Embarrassing” Incident

October 7, 2025

Ralf Schumacher did not mince his words when discussing the incident involving Charles Leclerc in the pit lane in Singapore, stating it was difficult to believe the scene actually unfolded as it did.

During the second free practice session at Marina Bay, the driver was exiting the Ferrari pits. Coincidentally, Lando Norris was passing by at the same time, and without noticing him, the Monegasque driver collided with him, damaging the Briton’s wing.

Despite the incident, Leclerc managed to avoid a more severe penalty, with the Maranello team only being required to pay a hefty fine of several thousand euros.

Commenting on the incident, the German acknowledged that it was difficult to believe what had happened and stated in an interview with Sky Sports Germany that “the mechanic released him, and that’s why he didn’t receive a penalty, but the fact that Leclerc didn’t look only to the right says it all. This shows that the guys nowadays just, well, it’s hard to say,” he said.

“I’m almost at a loss for words to describe how they don’t look just to the right. They rely too much on what they’re being told these days. Independent thinking obviously doesn’t seem to be as important anymore. It’s certainly an embarrassing accident, but it can happen,” he concluded.
