Laurent Mekies explained how Max Verstappen helped Red Bull turn around the 2025 Formula 1 season. The team principal pointed out how the Dutchman manages to get involved in a project without pointing fingers.
The first half of the championship was far from expected for the Austrian team. McLaren dominated completely, and the title fight was shaping up between Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri.
However, after Zandvoort, the Australian’s performance dropped, and the four-time champion began to gain momentum in the standings. In the end, Max finished as vice-champion with only two points behind the British champion.
After the complicated year of 2025, Mekies made a point of highlighting how Verstappen’s insights were essential in helping the team to overcome the poor results and turn things around.
“He does this with the ability to fully engage in the project, without judging it from the outside,” he added.
“But we are trying to find the right keys to ensure that we all walk in the same direction and that we all understand what he is trying to tell us with his communications,” he completed.
