Kimi Antonelli has a bold deduction for the 2026 Formula 1 season and the arrival of the new technical regulations. The young Mercedes prodigy believes that younger drivers will have an easier time adapting to the cars.
This year, teams and drivers are having to go through the process of learning new rules in the category. Active aerodynamics, engines with a 50/50 split between internal combustion and electric power, and an overtake button are just a few of the changes that will be implemented.
With this significant change in regulations in mind, the driver pointed out that younger competitors will have an easier time adapting to the new cars, since they barely had time to adjust to the previous eras.
“I think that, definitely, for all the rookies who entered F1 last year, starting this year with a new car is good, because we were used to driving a different car every year. So, we were used to adapting as quickly as possible to a new car,” he pointed out.
“Therefore, it’s clear that, in this aspect, it’s good to have a new car this year, because it’s a fresh start for everyone, especially for us, who were used to a new car every year. Maybe that will help us understand the car a little faster than the others. But the others are no fools, so I think they’ll also catch on quickly,” he added.
