Diogo Moreira Wins Moto2 World Title as Guevara Takes Valencia Victory

November 16, 2025

On Sunday morning, Diogo Moreira made history by becoming the first Brazilian to ever win the Moto2 championship, the intermediate category of the World Motorcycle Championship. The Italtrans rider completed the Valencian Community Grand Prix, held at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in the Spanish city of Valencia, with an 11th-place finish, securing the world title. The race was won by Izán Guevara, who led the entire event in the Andalusia region.

Moreira, who will defend LCR in MotoGP in 2026, entered the championship decision with a 24-point advantage over Manuel González, the only rider besides the Brazilian who had a chance at the title in Valencia. The Brazilian rider of bike number 10 needed only a 14th-place finish, but he maintained ninth position for most of the race and passed González with five laps remaining, watching as the Spanish rider abandoned the competition with four laps to go due to problems. In the end, the Brazilian finished 10th.

Guevara took the lead early in the race and stayed at the front throughout the competition, securing the victory. Daniel Holgado, who started from pole position, finished the race in second place, while Iván Ortolá completed the podium in Valencia with a third-place finish. Collin Veijer crossed the finish line in fourth place, and Filip Salac completed the list of the top five.

Albert Arenas completed the Valencian Community Grand Prix with a sixth-place finish, followed by Jake Dixon, who finished seventh after overtaking Senna Agius on the final lap, relegating the Australian to eighth place. Celestino Vietti finished the race in ninth place. The top ten group also included Tony Arbolino, with Diogo Moreira finishing 11th.
