NASCAR Brasil: Martelli Aims for Consistency to Contend for the Playoff Title

With the NASCAR Brasil regular season wrapped up in Curvelo, Jorge Martelli is already shifting his focus to the season’s decisive stretch. The Chevrolet #87 driver will face six races in the playoffs, which begin between October 30 and November 1, in Chapecó (SC).

The opening leg of the final phase will carry special significance for Martelli. Besides NASCAR Brasil’s debut at the new Autódromo Internacional Márcio Vaccaro, the race will be held in his home state. Now living in Tapurah (MT), the driver hopes to count on the support of Santa Catarina fans, but he also knows he’ll face the challenge of getting to know a new circuit.

“Correr em Chapecó vai ser muito especial para mim. É a minha terra, onde nasci, é um lugar onde certamente vou ter muita gente torcendo e, ao mesmo tempo, vamos conhecer uma pista nova para a NASCAR Brasil. Isso deixa tudo ainda mais desafiador. Quero aproveitar essa motivação, mas sem deixar que a emoção tire o foco. Precisamos chegar preparados, entender rapidamente o circuito e trabalhar muito bem com a equipe desde os primeiros treinos”, disse.

Serão três corridas em Chapecó e outras três na etapa final, em Brasília. Para Martelli, a regularidade pode fazer a diferença em uma disputa tão curta.

“Agora começa um campeonato praticamente novo. São seis corridas, três em cada etapa, e precisamos pensar no conjunto. Não adianta ter um resultado muito bom e depois deixar escapar pontos importantes. Quero fazer corridas consistentes, estar sempre na disputa e aproveitar cada oportunidade. O objetivo é chegar em Brasília ainda vivo na briga e com condições de buscar um grande resultado”, afirma.

The driver also highlighted the balance displayed during the regular phase and how small details can weigh in the playoffs.

“It has been a very competitive season from the start. NASCAR Brasil has once again shown that there is no room for complacency, because any detail can make a difference and completely change the outcome of a race. We had very balanced rounds, with several drivers battling for the top positions, and that makes the championship even more interesting for the playoffs,” Martelli assesses.

Now the objective is to take advantage of the period until Chapecó to arrive prepared for the final stretch.

“There is a lot ahead and six races are many opportunities to score points. The idea now is to work, make the most of this period until Chapecó and arrive prepared for this final phase. We will fight until the last checkered flag to close out the championship,” he concluded.
