Second in the Formula 3 standings, Ugo Ugochukwu will drop five positions on the grid for the two races at the penultimate round of the season, scheduled for this weekend at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza in Italy. The Campos Racing driver caused a collision with Matteo de Palo of Trident during the round’s sole free practice session, held in the early hours of Friday morning (4).
The two drivers were questioned by the stewards after the session, and it was determined that the American was at fault for the incident. Accordingly, Ugochukwu received a five-position penalty to be served across both races. In practical terms, this means the Campos Racing driver will have to drop back five places on the starting grid for both the Sprint and the main race.
Ugochukwu led a large portion of the season and is currently the runner-up. The American is contending for the 2026 title alongside Freddie Slater, and he sits just eight points behind the Trident driver with two rounds left in the championship.
The Formula 3 races for the 2026 season are scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and 3:15 p.m. on Sunday.
