Peter Bayer, CEO of Racing Bulls, stated that Verstappen’s renewal with Red Bull through the 2030 Formula 1 season “calms the entire system” of the driver market, since he is an influential name both within the Austrian team and across other outfits.
The paddock’s silly season this year involved several names — besides the four-time champion, Carlos Sainz was tipped to leave Williams and move to Audi. In the end, the Spaniard signed a multi-year contract with the British team.
And with the Dutchman remaining in the main squad, Racing Bulls also has a clearer outlook for the future, since they are not faced with the prospect of Arvid Lindblad or Liam Lawson being promoted to teammates of Isack Hadjar.
“Great news about Max, honestly, because this obviously calms the entire environment and, at the same time, we are very pleased with both Liam and Arvid and with the work they are doing,” he said.
The team has long stated that it is not in a hurry to decide the Formula 1 drivers, and Bayer promptly reiterated that the team principal, Alan Permane, will make the decision at the right moment. “We’re not in a rush. We have a good pool of drivers emerging from the young talent program,” he added, referring to Nikola Tsolov.
“I believe that Alan really wants to keep everyone calm and focused; he will decide when is the perfect moment to announce the drivers and the entire team.”
