Lando Norris matched a significant milestone in Formula 1 history by winning the Dutch Grand Prix, equalizing David Coulthard’s thirteen victories in the sport. The former British driver responded with good humor and joked that he was ‘very irritated’ by the achievement.
The victory at Zandvoort also reinforced Norris’s comeback in the 2026 season. After claiming his first win of the year at the Hungarian Grand Prix and finishing the Sprint race in second place at the Dutch circuit, the McLaren driver won again on Sunday and kept his title hopes alive.
Coulthard commented on the race in the Up to Speed podcast and highlighted the compatriot’s performance: “I think we saw exactly why I love Formula 1. We saw a driver in tune with his car, in tune with his team,” he said, before teasingly recalling that he had predicted Norris’s victory.
When told that Norris had reached thirteen GP victories, Coulthard joined in the joke: “Oh, God, I’m very irritated! Very irritated! He is a world champion and has thirteen wins, haha! No, he was incredible. He deserves it,” he added, laughing.
With these thirteen wins, Norris also matched the tally achieved by the legendary Alberto Ascari. The next victory will see the Briton join Graham Hill, Emerson Fittipaldi, and Jack Brabham on the historic list.
