The Toyota Corolla Cross has joined its 2027 lineup with major updates, especially for the GR Sport model. There are four SUV variants available through the manufacturer’s network of dealerships in the country — XRE, XRX, GR-Sport, and XRX Hybrid.
The 2027 version of the Corolla Cross GR-Sport features a bold front grille integrated with LED headlights and daytime running lights, reinforcing its strong identity and the GAZOO Racing track DNA. Its continuous side lines smoothly connect the front to the LED rear lights. To complete the model’s aggressive stance, the solid shapes of the fenders merge with the body, which sports a high and wide beltline.
Among the updates, the new design of alloy wheels with black-painted centers stands out, along with exclusive front bumper and grille, and a new rear bumper. The model also gains a redesigned tailgate finish and new lower side moldings along the doors, as well as a lower finish on the sills, yielding a tougher and more dynamic look.
Inside, the sporty character is amplified with updates such as sport pedals for the accelerator and brake, a new upholstery for the sport seats, and a new central console with finishing, adding sophistication and a unique identity to the cabin environment.
Even more practicality and safety
The Corolla Cross’ central console features a new design, available for the entire 2027 lineup, bringing a more modern and sophisticated look to the vehicle’s interior. This update provides a more intuitive integration of driving controls, delivering greater comfort and user experience for the driver.
The onboard experience across all 2027 Corolla Cross variants is elevated by the Toyota Play 2.0 system, which introduces a modern 10.1” high-definition screen for wide and intuitive viewing of maps, media, and vehicle functions. Fully connected, the SUV integrates the Toyota Connected Services ecosystem via the Toyota App, allowing the owner to check vehicle health diagnostics and access real-time status.
The system also offers advanced safety features, such as tracking and geofencing, as well as native Wi‑Fi connectivity for multiple devices, turning driving into a smarter and more practical journey.
The safety of the 2027 Corolla Cross lineup is standard across all versions with the Toyota Safety Sense package, which includes items such as: pre-collision assist, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and automatic high beams. occupant protection is maintained by a body with progressive deformation, seven airbags, and front and rear parking sensors with braking support.
More safety and efficiency with tire monitoring
All of the Corolla Cross 2027 lineup now includes the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System), a feature that continuously monitors tire pressure and alerts the driver when levels are off.
Beyond boosting safety during driving, the system contributes to better vehicle stability, reduces uneven tire wear, and helps improve fuel efficiency.
Toyota Connected Services arrive on the XRE version
The big news is that the XRE version now includes Toyota Connected Services, delivering comfort, safety, and convenience by providing information such as vehicle status and diagnostics, fuel optimization, and maintenance reminders. Additionally, customers can access 24-hour assistance, vehicle tracking and immobilization, Wi‑Fi Hotspot, among other features, through a subscription package.
Powertrain that blends performance and efficiency
In the flex hybrid configuration, the 2027 Corolla Cross is equipped with a 1.8L VVT-i 16V Atkinson-cycle flex engine, delivering 101 hp when fueled with ethanol and 98 hp with gasoline, along with 14.5 kgf·m of torque (ethanol or gasoline). This powerplant operates in concert with two electric motors (MG1 and MG2) rated at 72 hp and 16.6 kgf·m of torque, ensuring quick responses and enhanced driving dynamics.
As pioneers in the world to combine the benefits of electrification with biofuels, Toyota’s flex-hybrids achieve 30% lower fuel consumption compared with non-electrified versions and up to 70% lower CO₂ emissions when fueled with ethanol.
Alongside the Hybrid Transaxle transmission, which operates via a planetary gear system, eliminating losses and friction, the setup delivers linear acceleration, simulating gears according to engine demand and without wasting energy, contributing to agile responses and higher fuel efficiency.
In the versions equipped with the 2.0 Dynamic Force Dual VVT-iE 16V DOHC engine, the 2027 Corolla Cross delivers up to 175 hp and 21.3 kgf·m of torque. Paired with the Direct Shift transmission with ten-speed simulation, the setup blends the smoothness of a CVT with a sense of direct acceleration, thanks to a mechanical gear that acts at takeoff, improving acceleration in first gear. The result is a highly efficient transmission across any speed range.
Color options
The XRE, XRX, and XRX Hybrid versions come with a wide range of choices, including Polar White, Granada Red, Granite Gray, Infinite Black, New Moon Silver, Lunar White, and Topaz Blue, allowing greater personalization to match the customer’s style.
Meanwhile, the GR-Sport, aligned with its more sporty and exclusive character, presents a more targeted offering, available in Infinite Black, Granada Red (with a differentiated finish), and Lunar White, reinforcing its bold visual proposition and unique identity.
