First champion in the history of F4 Brazil and an international standout in F3, Pedro Clerot will wear a special Schuberth helmet during this weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix. The F1 feeder category is set to run two races, and the Brasilia-born driver prepared a tribute to the circuit’s greatest winner, his idol Ayrton Senna, who triumphed there six times (1987, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992 and 1993).
“This will be my first race in Monaco, and when we talk about this track, Ayrton Senna automatically comes to mind. He is my great idol in motorsport and also outside the sport. A big reference for me and also an example of a person who always fought very hard to achieve victories and titles,” says Clerot, who is sponsored by Banco BRB.
The special helmet worn by Clerot showcases the iconic green and blue stripes emerging from near the visor and extending toward the back of the helmet. The logo “Senna Sempre,” featuring Ayrton raising the Brazilian flag, is inscribed on the blue stripe. Finally, the Brazilian flag is also drawn on the top section of the shell.
The 19-year-old driver recently had the opportunity to visit the Ayrton Senna Institute and Senna Brands headquarters in São Paulo, where he could learn more details about his idol’s career, as well as see up close items from the Senna family’s collection, such as helmets, trophies, racing suits, along with the classic McLaren MP4/5B from the 1990 season.
“It was truly a privilege to be so warmly welcomed and to be able to learn more about Senna’s stories. I have watched some of his races on YouTube, but seeing the car up close, among the items, for everything he represents to me and to our country, was really special,” says Clerot.
The F3 schedule calls for a lone free practice session on Thursday, qualifying on Friday starting at 6:00 a.m., and the Sprint on Saturday at 5:45 a.m. The main race is slated for 3:00 a.m. on Sunday (Brasília time).
