TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Hosts Home Race at Fuji in WEC’s 100th Edition

November 4, 2025

The WEC is heading to Japan this weekend for the 6 Hours of Fuji, the penultimate round of the 2025 season and the 100th race in its history. The competition at the Fuji Speedway is the home race for the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing team, which is seeking to achieve a podium finish in front of its fans and the manufacturer’s partners.

Since the World Endurance Championship was reinstated in 2012, 11 editions of the Japanese round have been held, with the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing team securing nine victories and 15 podium finishes. Facing a grid with 18 Hypercars and seven other manufacturers, the Toyota GR010 HYBRID team is aiming for a strong result in Fuji.

After missing the Lone Star Le Mans in Austin, Mike Conway returns to the grid recovered from an injury and will partner with Kamui Kobayashi and Nyck de Vries in the number 7 car. Meanwhile, the Toyota GR010 HYBRID number 8 will feature the regular trio of Sébastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley, and Ryo Hirakawa.

The Fuji Speedway is located 100 kilometers from Tokyo, the Japanese capital, and is considered the home of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing team due to its proximity to the Higashi-Fuji technical center. As a result, a large number of team members will attend the six-hour race at the circuit.

“We are very excited about our home race. After Le Mans, this is our most important race, and we really want to have a good performance,” said Kamui Kobayashi, driver and leader of the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing team in the WEC.

“This year we are fighting for it, but I hope we can achieve something special at our home track, as we have been very strong there in previous years. We will give our maximum, and I hope our Japanese fans can enjoy an exciting weekend and a great result from the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing team,” Kobayashi added.

Due to the time difference, the activities for the Japanese round of the WEC will begin on Thursday evening, Brazilian time, followed by the early hours of Friday, which will also feature the third free practice session. Qualifying is scheduled for 2:20 am on Saturday, while the start of the 6 Hours of Fuji will take place at 11 pm on Saturday. The race will be broadcast live on BandSports and YouTube.
