Logan Sargeant is making a comeback to professional racing. The American driver has signed with Ford and will compete in the Hypercar class in the World Endurance Championship in the 2027 season.
During the launch of Ford Racing in Detroit last Thursday, the manufacturer announced the competitor alongside factory drivers Mike Rockenfeller and Sebastian Priaulx in the premier long-distance racing category.
Sargeant, 25, competed in 26 F1 Grands Prix between the 2023 and 2024 seasons with Williams. However, in the last nine races of 2024, he was replaced by Franco Colapinto.
After his departure from F1, Logan participated in the WEC rookie test in November and made a few appearances in the IMSA SportsCar championship in the LMP2 class.
Now, he will make his full-time switch to sports cars in 2027. “Logan brings a level of technical sophistication and high-pressure aerodynamic experience that is vital for a program of this scale,” said Dan Sayers, head of Ford LMDh.
“Having an American back in a Ford at Le Mans seems right. It’s a nod to giants like Dan Gurney and A.J. Foyt, who showed the world in 1967 what happens when American grit meets global ambition,” he added.
