Richard Verschoor was the fastest driver in the sole free practice session for the 11th round of the 2025 Formula 2 season. In the activity held on Friday morning at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza in Italy, the MP Motorsport driver recorded a time of 1:32.547 in his best of 14 laps, and was not surpassed by his opponents.
The second position was taken by Luke Browning, a Hitech driver who was surpassed by Verschoor by 0.103 seconds. Alexander Dunne of Rodin took the third best mark of the session, followed by Oliver Goethe, who was fourth with MP Motorsport. Kush Maini of DAMS completed the top 5.
Victor Martins of ART Grand Prix took the sixth best time, while Dino Beganovic, a Hitech driver, was the seventh fastest. Arvid Lindblad of Campos Racing, Jak Crawford of DAMS, and Amaury Cordeel of Rodin completed the top 10. Meanwhile, Leonardo Fornaroli, the championship leader and Invicta driver, was 22nd.
The session saw a red flag and was ended early. Joshua Durksen, a driver for AIX Racing, lost control of his car in the Ascari variant and spun, stopping in the escape area. The activity on the fastest circuit of the 2025 season was not restarted after the incident.
Starting at 10:55 am, the qualifying session will determine the starting positions for the weekend’s races. The Sprint starts at 9:15 am on Saturday, while the main event takes place on Sunday at 4:45 am.
