Rafael Câmara Secures F2 Pole Position, Eyes Victory at Spa-Francorchamps

July 17, 2026

Brazilian driver making his first season in Formula 2, Rafael Câmara clinched pole position for the eighth round of the championship, set for the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium. With a flying lap at the end of qualifying on Friday (the 17th), the Invicta Racing driver clocked 1m56.306s, earning the fourth pole position in the last five rounds.

Câmara had already shown pace in the sole free practice of the weekend, placing himself among the ten fastest. In qualifying, the Ferrari Driver Academy member initially moved up to second, and nailed a strong lap in the final moments to secure pole for Sunday’s race at the 7.004-kilometer circuit.

“I wasn’t sure whether it would be wet or dry, but once that eased a little our life, it stopped raining; then, from there, it was just about doing the basics well and getting ready. And also on the second lap, it was just about adjusting the setup a bit to ensure a good balance and a clean lap afterwards,” Rafael Câmara said, just after qualifying.

“It was a bit confusing with the red flag as well; I think everyone, or some drivers, did a full lap. So, yes, it was a little tricky to come back and try again. You pass through Turns 1 and 5 without DRS, so you need to push a bit harder in sector 2. We know we need to gain time. It certainly wasn’t easy, but we performed well and managed to put in a solid lap afterwards,” Câmara continued.

“I hope that on Sunday we can get a clean start and move forward with a smooth race. So I’m looking forward to the races. And I hope that tomorrow we can also have a good race and a good weekend,” the Brazilian added.
