Porsche Expands Its Stake in Manthey Racing

October 8, 2026

Porsche has boosted its stake in Manthey Racing to 67 percent as part of its Sportwagenschmiede ’35’ plan, a trajectory designed to heighten the level of customization offered to customers.

The German marque first took a controlling 51 percent of Manthey in 2013, and it has now added a further 16 percent, despite rumors at the end of 2025 suggesting a potential sale could be on the cards.

Rather than exiting, Porsche now positions Manthey as a trusted partner with deep roots in the motorsport community and a loyal following.

Porsche chief executive Dr. Michael Leiters commented that increasing the stake brings the company closer to the core brand. The brand is headquartered near the Nürburgring and has demonstrated notable success in customer racing, with a view to expanding the joint offering.

Leiters outlined that there are plans for special models in limited sub-segments, performance upgrade kits, and exclusive track experiences as part of the collaboration.

Manthey operates its Porsche 911 GT3 R Evos in series such as the FIA World Endurance Championship and DTM, and runs a dedicated performance-tuning division that develops high-performance packages for road-going models, including the 911 and Cayman. Since 2020, nine such products have been released.

“Mutual trust has long underpinned our successful collaboration,” noted Nicolas Raeder, co-managing director of Manthey Racing GmbH.

“Over more than a decade, we have delivered a multitude of standout projects together. The increase in our shareholding is a personal acknowledgment of that partnership. We look forward to deepening our cooperation and supporting Porsche’s Sportwagenschmiede ’35’ strategy.”

His fellow co-managing director, his brother Martin Raeder, added: “We are entering the future from a position of greater strength thanks to the revised ownership. This marks the next step in our collaboration.”

“By working even more closely, Porsche and Manthey can leverage existing synergies and opportunities in a more targeted way, further bridging the gap between racing and the company’s production cars.”

Porsche’s decision to acquire a larger stake in Manthey is part of its ‘Home of Sports Cars’ program, which targets three focal areas: performance (including Manthey), exclusivity and heritage.

The company described its individualization offering as the apex of this strategy.

Porsche indicated that a preview of the future partnership would be shown at the weekend’s DTM season finale at Hockenheim, where Manthey driver Thomas Preining remains in title contention, and two special models will be unveiled to celebrate Manthey’s 30th anniversary.
