The fifth round of the NASCAR Brasil season will mark a historic milestone starting next Thursday (the 30th): the category will make its first visit to Cuiabá (MT), with the inauguration of the Novo Mato Grosso Raceway external layout.
The drivers of SG28 Racing, Bruna Tomaselli and Tata Calderón, arrive at the new challenge relying on the experience accumulated on oval circuits throughout their international careers. Both believe that the knowledge gained in competitions such as USF2000 and the IndyCar Series could be a differentiating factor in the pursuit of strong results.
For Tomaselli, although the Mato Grosso circuit presents different characteristics from the North American ovals, prior experience and a well-defined strategy will be important factors for the team’s performance: “It’s a new circuit, an oval layout, and everything is new for everyone. We’ll also have night races and one after another, unlike the other rounds. It’s going to be a very strategic weekend to achieve a win and a podium, and our team is working hard for that,” the Brazilian noted.
The Colombian Tata Calderón, meanwhile, is excited to experience another Brazilian circuit during her first national season. After clinching her first podium in the previous round, the Colombian highlights the motivation to return to competition after nearly a month away from the tracks.
“Almost a month away from the track, so I’m excited to return to competition with SG28 Racing by PoleMotorsport. It will be a special race, for the first time on an oval with three turns and in a night race. This makes me very eager to get to know the circuit and start seeking the best setup and strategy,” she stated.
With the debut of the new layout and a differentiated schedule, featuring night races held in sequence, the Cuiabá round promises to be one of the most strategic moments of NASCAR Brasil’s 2026 season. The event runs from July 30 to August 1.
