NASCAR Brazil Creates Executive Council and Positions Itself for Continued Growth

July 9, 2026

NASCAR Brasil announces a new institutional framework that marks a fresh chapter in the category’s trajectory in the country. The initiative includes formalizing its executive leadership and creating a strategic Executive Council. This move reinforces the category’s commitment to grow not only on the tracks but also as a business, entertainment, and innovation platform in Brazil and Latin America.

The first member to join the Council is Santiago Chamorro, an executive with more than 32 years of international experience in the automotive industry. Santiago built a remarkable career at General Motors, where he held leadership positions in the United States, Colombia, Brazil, and across South America, rising to the role of President & Managing Director of General Motors South America. He is currently a Partner at GR8 Ventures, one of the most active venture capital managers in Brazil’s innovation ecosystem.

In the Council, Chamorro becomes a supporter of initiatives related to the series’ strategic growth, to the generation of new revenue streams, to institutional positioning, and to strengthening the connections between motorsport, the automotive industry, innovation, and the business environment.

“It is an honor to be part of this project at such a pivotal moment in its trajectory. NASCAR is one of the strongest sports brands in the world, with a history built over decades and an extraordinary connection with its fans. Seeing this legacy grow in Brazil, through a platform that brings together competition, technology, entertainment, and major commercial partners, is incredibly inspiring. I am very happy for the opportunity to contribute to NASCAR Brazil’s future,” Santiago Chamorro, a member of the NASCAR Brasil Executive Council.

Leading the council’s presidency is Carlos Col, one of the most experienced promoters and producers in Brazilian motorsport, with a track record of success in conceiving and developing categories such as Stock Car, Copa Truck, and NASCAR Brasil itself. Col is the architect of the series’ long-term vision and the person responsible for assembling the team that is taking the category to the next level.

“Santiago brings a rare combination of global experience, deep knowledge of the automotive industry, strategic vision, and the ability to develop business. We are building the right structure to take NASCAR Brasil to the level we want,” Carlos Col, President of the NASCAR Brasil council.

In the role of CEO, Thiago Marques continues to lead the operation with his renowned expertise in engineering and the development of competition vehicles. Marques oversees the technical evolution of the category, including the launch of the second generation of NASCAR Brasil cars, and represents the bridge between the high performance on the tracks and the business growth strategies.

“We are building a category that is increasingly solid, modern, and connected to the best international practices. Santiago’s experience in innovation, technology, relationships with major brands, and business transformation will be a strategic asset,” Thiago Marques, CEO of NASCAR Brasil.

Assuming the position of Vice President of Commercial and Marketing, Gustavo Carvalho brings to NASCAR Brasil a brand-building and commercially oriented vision. His mission is to broaden the portfolio of partners and sponsors, develop new business units, and position the series as one of the most attractive sports properties for brands seeking a connection with the Brazilian audience.

Beyond the Tracks: New Business Units and Platform Expansion

The restructuring clearly reflects an ambition: to transform NASCAR Brasil into a multidimensional business platform. The category continues to invest in high-level competition, but advances in a structured manner in creating new business units that broaden its market presence, generate new revenue, and create new ways to connect with fans, brands, and partners.

With a solid foundation built on global automakers such as Chevrolet, represented by the Camaro, and Ford, with the Mustang, as well as a growing ecosystem of sponsors and strategic partners, NASCAR Brasil is positioned to seize opportunities in entertainment, licensing, brand experiences, digital content, and much more.

The strength of the NASCAR brand in the United States – more than seven decades of history, millions of devoted fans, and one of the sport’s largest audiences in the world – directly fuels this growth in Brazil, giving the category credibility and reach that few local sports properties can offer.
